Organoleptic characteristics: straw-yellow with greenish tinges. Intense bouquet. Suave, round, lingering taste pleasing blend of floral and honeyed (but not sweet) flavors. Viognier dominates the blend (50%) both in aromatics and depth on the palate. This is complimented by the texture and flavor components of Grenache Blanc (30%) and Roussanne (20%) that seems to be the glue tying it all together. The floral and sweet pitted fruit character on the nose is a result of the increased proportion of Viognier and Roussanne in the blend and carries forward through the palate and on to the finish. All the while, Grenache Blanc offers its characteristic rich mouthfeel adding the perfect back drop to the luscious fruit balanced by good acidity lending a sense of unity and balance. The balance and structure of the mid-palate continue on the finish with notes of white pitted fruit, pear and a touch of citrus for added complexity.

With consistent high marks from Connoisseurs Guide to California Wine, The Wine Advocate and Wine Enthusiast, this may be as close to a sure thing as you will ever find. Vibrant fruit (peach, apricot, fig) coupled with richness and complexity; this is an alternative white that’s easy to love.
The 2013 vintage (like the 2012 vintage) was fantastic in Bennett Valley. The growing season was long with moderate temperatures and very low disease pressure in the vineyard. As with other Frostwatch Chardonnays, this wine is a blend of two different clonal selections. Clone 4 contributes a full mouthfeel with loads of red apple fruit, while fruit from the Platt-Wente Block contributes vibrant citrus notes and a touch of minerality. This wine continues to improve with additional bottle aging and still has yet to reach its full potential. The wine pairs well with a variety of foods but is rich and complex enough to drink on its own. 92pts “Two Puffs” Connoisseurs’ Guide

While everyone loved the Vice Versa, many of our customers urged us to try producing a dry, rather than off-dry, Semillon. After experimenting with various blends, our final cuvee is 83% Semillon and 17% Sauvignon Blanc. The resulting wine is voluptuous with a silky smooth mouthfeel and a very nice acid balance. The wine exhibits traditional Semillon notes of fig, but also expresses honeydew melon aromatics and flavors.
